This is another tattoo I've found. Artist unknown, but an awesome tattoo of the film poster of Tod Browning's 1932, Freaks.

If I had the guts..

I would get a 'freak' tattooed. I really like the idea of freak shows, un p.c. I know...These tattoos were done on an 'illustrated man' by the tattoo artist Tin Tin from Paris.

Stoney St. Clair

Leonard St. Clair or 'Stoney' was born a paraplegic dwarf. He became a sword swallower in a circus as a child, where he got to know many 'illustrated ladies'. His second ever tattoo was inside his own lip, he was a hero of Ed Hardy's and a real eccentric. He also tattooed completely freehand. A film was made about Stoney in 1981 entitled 'Stoney knows how' featuring interviews with Stoney as well as footage of him tattooing Ed Hardy...it's cool, he's strange.

Reasons for Blog

I've decided to create a new blog to aid me in my research for my work placement at a tattoo parlor. I will be posting each day with research into the history of tattooing as well as showcasing tattoo artists that I like and feel are bringing something new to a traditional art form.
